Antioch native Maria Cyphert came to Zion recently with piloting and engineering experience, letters of recommendation, and a dream. She can take a hovercraft apart and put it back together, she can pilot one, she can even man its guns -- but what she hasn't done, what she desperately wants to do, is pilot one. Technically experienced and carrying a proud freeborn legacy of skill and achievement on her shoulders, Maria has a lot to prove and the burning desire to succeed.

In the Matrix of Falana, Dust was created by an ancient ritual: the souls of two enemies who had killed each other were bound together, with a new mind to govern them. The Sen-Mithrarin, Dust, took the side of the Moonblood people, against the genocidal General Gaius and the army he commanded to exterminate them. Extracted, Dust now struggles with possessing a human body and the knowledge that everything he had been through was a lie. Despite his recent arrival in the Real, he is already regarded as an incredible melee combat operative -- though his virulent hatred for the Machines may give many pause.

A world where humanity has long passed its glory days, scrounging for resources just to get by, besieged by a monstrous enemy intent on using all organic life for parts? It all sounds a little too familiar for his comfort, and two months in he's still not too sure that this isn't all some kind of complicated act put on to extract valuable secrets from him without his knowledge. It's happened to him more than once.
But hey, at least the tech here all works more-or less like it's supposed to. Even if everything else was some big sadistic lie, all those years spent studying engineering and fixing spaceships are still good for something. And there aren't any alien signals being beamed into his brain anymore, so that's a plus. ▲ ABBREVIATED DOSSIER |

Until about 12 weeks ago, Agent Emily Finch thought she was getting close to cracking a Soviet radio signal that might or might not have been involved mind control. The year was 1978, and the arms race to control and understand magic wore on. Agent Finch was a spy, and she was very good at her job.
Now, recently unplugged and still shaky on her metaphorical feet if no longer shaky on her literal ones, she's very quickly attempting to play catch-up. She hasn't much reached out yet, but she will, and soon. For now, she's watching and listening. She's not so good with trust.
Also, she misses her exploding pen.

Peter Quill spent the first few years of his life on Earth as we sort of know it, but was abducted at a young age and raised by a bunch of space scavengers to be space Indiana Jones. After a long career in causing mild trouble, he got dragged into a plot of galaxy-destroying proportions along with a group of similarly sketchy misfits. Faced with saving their own asses or trying to save the galaxy, they decided to play hero and actually succeeded.
Since being unplugged, Peter's fallen back on old habits, making connections with some of the less dangerous criminal elements in order to help smuggle goods to Irkalla. While mostly efficient, he hasn't entirely avoided run-ins with the law (or more dangerous criminal elements), so he has a reputation as a very minor troublemaker. ▲ ABBREVIATED DOSSIER |
